* Where the secretary comes in bigger cars than the manager.
* Where hands are regularly washed with petrol, in factory and industries, as water is costly.
* Where there is separate section for male bachelors in movie theatres.
* Gold is listed along with grocery items for purchase.
* Rent includes water charges; bill for electricity comes once in a few years.
* Small cars are rare...one in about 10 cars.
* Brand new Cadillac's, Rolls Royce, Lexus are all owner driven.
* Rolls Royce, Porche, Lexus are parked in the open...
* Eating out in 5 star hotels is only a fraction costlier than eating out in any casual dining restaurant.
* U hear girls in office are going to a party .......sitting around a camp fire in the moonlight.....................
* Petrol is cheaper than water Payment for drainage also
* Any building construction finishes in 3 months
* Unqualified get more salary than Qualified
* Show-off matters more than real quality & performance
* Labors are paid less than what they can earn back in their country
* Companies can kick away their employees without any reason
* Wastas (recommendation) are more powerful than money
* Cleaners have more Wasta than officers
* Watchman has more Rights than the Building Owner
* Office boy & Drivers has more influence on Boss than Manager (exactly)
* Gulf climate changes so fast, in one hour u can see raining, dust storm, hot / humid / chilling weather
* Gulf is located in desert, still u find greenery everywhere
* If some one can't earn money in Gulf, he can't earn at any place in the world
* In Gulf, time goes very fast, Friday to Friday comes u never know, its sooo fast
* Every bachelor has a dream of getting married and buying a house in home town
* Love your parents, friends, relatives 100 times more than that you were together
* Being at home is more painful than being at work
* Indians appear/pretend more religious/God fearing than they really are
* Theatres are full of Arab nationals whenever there is a movie of Salman / Sharukh
* Gulf girls sing Hindi songs but don't understand anything
* Prostitutes available, but cheaper than beggars
* Dance Bars and Pubs more than that in Bangalore
* A ladies hair saloon every 5 meters
* Food/Grocery delivery to the car
* A Starbucks every 10 meters
* Hard Rock Cafe with no alcohol
* A Shopping Mall in every 5km.
* Highway lanes differentiated for slow & fast drivers
* Getting license is more difficult than car
* Smashed cars are more than bugs
* No Women Queues
* Local calls are free

* GREEN : Signal to go, for Americans, Europeans and Indians
* ORANGE : Signal to go, for Egyptians and Pakistanis
* RED : Signal to go, for Kuwaitis, Saudis & Palestinian
IF YOU SAYING 'NO' THEN YOU ARE HIDING THE TRUTH
'Cry No More by Linda Howard' is another book that I have just finished reading. The book is about Milla Edge, who has lost her child, while shopping at a village market in Mexico and the turn of events that lead her back to her lost son after many years.
'River of no Return' by Padmin Gunaratnam, is very nicely written book about the life of an ex-convict Julia Chan. The story of the book is about the life after Julia is released from the Singapore Changi Prison and how she tries her best to overcome emotions and troubles that crop in between her, adopted parents, 2 children and her in-laws.
This book is also interesting, especially the way the Pental in Brazil has been described. The book has some interesting stuff about Brazil, its people and the journey in the river and the Indian tribe.Came across these sayings, presumably from Bill Gates of Microsoft, during a talk in of the school:
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing (getting rid of lice) in the closet of your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
